Parents/carers are the primary educators of children. Our contribution to your child’s education is the provision of academic learning. We also assist children to develop their social and emotional competences as well as offering many cultural and sporting opportunities. Children experience success in many areas – school choir, instrumental music program, Proserpine State School concert band, individual and team sporting representation at district, regional and state levels.
The curriculum is the total learning experience. Our formal curriculum is derived from 8 Key Learning Areas (KLA). Each KLA syllabus states what children should know and the ways of working from Years P - 10.
Did you know that all students enrolled in Years 1 to 6 at our school:
Complete assessment tasks common to a particular year level
Receive feedback called ‘two stars and a wish’
Explicitly learn thinking strategies such as thinking hats, thinkers keys, 5Ws and a H etc.
Use eLearning – think computers, internet, data projectors, blog, wiki, virtual classroom, on-line chat and avatars to name a few.
Participate in specific lessons to teach social skills. This is an important part of our school wide positive behaviours framework.
Aim to be safe, friendly, respectful learners!
